The Edmonton Winds, under the direction of Raymond Baril, are proud to present "Winds of Time", a musical tour of our past from the earliest days of the Saturday Music School to the modern Edmonton Winds. Archives and photos will be on display as we perform pieces that represent key moments in our evolution as an ensemble and celebrate our 50-year history. The concert will feature classics of the wind band genre Lincolnshire Posy (Grainger) and Paris Sketches (Ellerby) alongside modern favourites Loch na Beiste (Gilliland) and Caveat (McCune).

Edmonton Winds at 50: Close to Home

At 50: Close to Home celebrates two major milestones for the Edmonton Winds. Join us for the first concert of our 50th year where we will be releasing our third studio album in collaboration with MacEwan's own Bent River Records!
'Close To Home' showcases local composers and performers and other music commissioned by the Edmonton Winds. The album features music by Allan Gilliland, Julie Giroux, Pete Meechan, and Mari Alice Conrad, with a feature performance of Dreaming of the Masters IV by award-winning saxophonist PJ Perry.
The concert will feature the music from the album as well as a world premiere commission from Julie Giroux and new music from Pete Meechan. Join us afterwards for a light reception to purchase a CD and mingle with the performers and your fellow audience members.

'Where No One Has Gone Before' is an interstellar concert experience, blasting you off on a sonic journey through the cosmos. Join the Edmonton Winds to experience the majestic grandeur of themes inspired by this earthly realm as well the wonder of the cosmos. Hear tunes inspired by the iconic science fiction journey of Star Trek and the pulse-pounding scores of Star Wars. Join us to share the wonder of what we can create here on Earth, featuring the 2024-25 David Erdmann Scholarship soloist.
This concert unites the best of cinematic space exploration. We will traverse the stars and witness epic battles, breathtaking landscapes, and the profound mystery of the unknown, all through the power of live music. This is more than a concert; it's a voyage to the final frontier, where imagination knows no bounds.
