The David Erdmann Memorial Scholarship has been created by the Edmonton Winds and the family and friends of David to honour his memory and legacy of service to the Edmonton wind band community. The Scholarship is a merit-based award, offered to a post-secondary music or music education student who demonstrates leadership in the Edmonton music community and excellence in composition or performance. 

The scholarship competition alternates between composition and performance competitions. The 2025-26 scholarship is a composition competition.  The applicant selected for the award will be given the option to compose a new piece for the band over the course of the academic year or perform a composition from their existing portfolio. The successful scholarship recipient will receive a $500 cash prize as well as the opportunity to have their piece performed by the Edmonton Winds.

The David Erdmann Scholarship endowment fund is managed  by the Edmonton Community Foundation on behalf of the Edmonton Winds.
