David Erdmann Memorial Scholarship
David was passionate about teaching and mentoring young musicians and was a leader in the music community.
The David Erdmann Memorial Scholarship has been created by the Edmonton Winds and the family and friends of David to honour his memory and legacy of service to the Edmonton wind band community. The Scholarship is a merit-based award, offered to a post-secondary vocal or instrumental student who demonstrates leadership in the Edmonton music community and excellence in composition or performance.
The scholarship competition alternates between composition and performance competitions. The 2023-24 scholarship is a composition competition. Applicants will submit an original composition from their portfolio and the winner will be offered the opportunity to compose a new piece to be performed by the Edmonton Winds or to workshop and perform an existing piece from their portfolio.
The David Erdmann Scholarship endowment fund is managed by the Edmonton Community Foundation on behalf of the Edmonton Winds.
